The Hanns Seidel Foundation in Ukraine is a structural unit of the Institute for European and Transatlantic Dialogue.
- Institute for European and Transatlantic Dialogue
The Institute for European and Transatlantic Dialogue is responsible for the Hanns Seidel Foundation’s international relations with the United States, Canada, Western, Central, South-Eastern and Eastern Europe, as well as NATO and the European Union.
It promotes bilateral and multilateral relations and fosters dialogue with governments, parliaments, and civil society organisations. Its work includes the preparation, implementation, and coordination of conferences, lectures, and expert discussions with political and social stakeholders.
In addition, it provides concise analyses of current international policy issues and background reports on political, economic, and social developments in the countries mentioned above.
Its mission is to strengthen transatlantic dialogue, support European integration, promote international stability and security, and contribute to peace.
The Hanns Seidel Foundation consists of the following organisational units.
- Leadership
Since 19 June 2026, Prof. Klaus Holetschek, Member of the Bavarian State Parliament, has been Chairman of the Hanns Seidel Foundation.
Dr. Josef Widmann has served as Secretary General of the Hanns Seidel Foundation since November 2024.
- Berlin Office
In Berlin, the Hanns Seidel Foundation maintains a liaison office in the federal capital. It represents the Foundation at official events and in political institutions and serves as a contact point for the German Bundestag, the Federal Government, ministries, political parties, associations, and embassies.
- Institute for International Cooperation – Peace and development
The Institute for International Cooperation is active in development cooperation worldwide. Its work focuses on promoting good governance, democracy, and sustainable development, with the aim of improving living conditions and strengthening democratic structures.
- Institute for European and Transatlantic Dialogue
The Institute for European and Transatlantic Dialogue is responsible for the Hanns Seidel Foundation’s international relations with the United States, Canada, Western, Central, South-Eastern and Eastern Europe, as well as NATO and the European Union.
- Academy for Politics and Current Affairs – Analyses, Scenarios, Policy Advice
The Academy for Politics and Current Affairs is a forum for the exchange of ideas between academia and politics. It focuses on current trends and scholarly research and develops analyses and policy advice for practical politics.
- Institute for Political Education – Knowledge Transfer, Values, Dialogue
The Institute for Political Education offers civic education programmes for interested citizens of all age groups and professions. It provides seminars on a variety of topics and promotes political knowledge, values orientation, and dialogue.
- Institute for Scholarship Programmes – Support for Talented Students
The Institute for Scholarship Programmes supports particularly talented and socially committed students and doctoral candidates. It provides both financial and non-material support and promotes academic excellence combined with civic engagement.
